Self Storage Tips



  • RULE- NEVER STORE ANYTHING ILLEGAL, ALIVE, COMBUSTIBLE, OR STOLEN.


  • Tip #1- Have a plan before you start loading your storage unit. Vizulaize your plan so that you can best utilize the space available.


  • Tip #2 Use cloth coverings for furniture instead of plastic. Plastic has a tendenacy to trap moisture.


  • Tip #3- Plastic totes are far better than cardboard boxes. Cardboard boxes can absorb moisture. When storing long term you goal is to keep things dry!


  • Tip #4- If storing washing machines or refrigeradors, be sure to leave them cracked open to allow for airflow.


  • Tip #5- Store couches on their end to maximize space


  • Tip #6- Pour baking soad or coffee grounds into pantyhose (or like item) and hang them. This will make sure to keep any funky smells at bay


  • Tip #7- It may feel like your in a hurry when your moving things- but take time to label your boxes. Your future self with thank you.


  • Tip #8- Do not store any of the following:
  • Gasoline
  • Paint
  • Anything you can eat
  • Anything illegal, combustible, or stolen---or alive.
